Good stuff to know.

fine points

And thanks for reading, TF. Smiling I had to research this once for a class I was teaching and it proved to be invaluable as I learned some of the finer points of copyright.

True

It is hard.
We are building a compulation of public domain, but you really need to be careful, because someone may still own copyright to characters etc.

I have given up on trying to keep my articles copyright - I have way too many stolen.

Well, when they reprint

Well, when they reprint stuff I've put out there, it's not too bad, as long as I get a link back. But I hate it when the articles appear on a questionable site, so then I ask for them to be removed, with very little success, usually. It can be difficult to navigate between the promotion potential of article marketing and the fear that your work will end up being misused.
