Today I wrote in my other blog about sweatshop writing jobs.
I'm hearing more and more about writers being paid less than peanuts for writing work. Beyond the price per word, a writer has to consider the time and effort involved in an assignment. Some assignments require vast amounts of research that needs to be taken into account when pricing out a job.
Last week I took a .01/word job but it took me so much research and effort that in reality, I was being paid slave wages. When things are dead quiet though, it's tempting to take anything you can to keep working.
Are the other communati freelance writers in the same boat as me? It's famine to feast as they say in this biz and lately I'm getting rather peckish!!

I'm finding things a little
I'm finding things a little slow, too, Dana, but I hope it will be shortlived. I haven't really had much down time since March 2006, so I can't complain. Still, it would be nice for a few high paid jobs to fall into my lap.

Here's to that!
__________________________I know what you mean. I had months where I felt like I barely breathed due to crazy volumes but I do hear summertime can be slow for freelance writers. I started last spring at this gig so was still ramping up so probably never noticed.

.01/word...
...is already slave wages unless it gets you a byline in a place that will do you some good.
My two cents.

Yes,
