Think Advertising

and what comes to mind? Those fantastic curving mountain roads along the ocean with a lone automobile speeding along like it is the only car in the world, the sun glittering off the ocean's waves in the background like the white light of diamonds flashing into your consciousness the power and handling ability of the new model being presented to the American consumer.
So it is that television advertising has been established as the most powerful medium for political candidates to "get their message across."
Even as Democratic Party Candidate Barack Obama has been lauded for his campaign  field teams' usage of the Internet with their Voter Activation Network, the $150 million he collected from the Internet  in September (total for the twenty-two month campaign $300 million!) he has been able to buy all the available television time until November 4; with a 30-minute ad on seven networks (!) on one Wednesday night, October 29 (including the Spanish language Univision Network.)
Obama also has 372 field offices to coordinate 1.1 million volunteers as they seek to talk to more voters in their neighborhoods.
It is the endless television advertising, though, that is credited with "sealing the deal" with the American voter. As the "negative ads" come to predominate as the weeks dwindle into days before the November finale, pounding away at a statement made in an interview, or something published in a newspaper editorial written years ago by a candidate for a lesser office, the constant repetition of whatever the opposition sees as a weak spot or a revelation of un-American attitudes towards whatever the other side sees as a betrayal of "Free Enterprise/ Free Market"  governmental principles.
With the exception of the "Taxpayer-Funded Rescue Plan, Troubled Asset Relief Program/ TARP; an a example of "bipartisan cooperation"  (that John McCain is always claiming that he is a master at) that can be applied to solving all the problems facing the US, the negative political ads have targeted the Democrats of accepting cut-rate mortgage deals and campaign funds from the evil Wall Street Investment Bankers that "securitized" the packaged home loans and refusing to heed calls from various financial experts to increase regulation of the home lending industry.
